Fees for license to be paid to the State by the student. $85.00

 

No interest payment plan is available with $300 down, then pay for the hours you complete weekly @ $5.00 per hour.   All supplies, materials and products will be provided to the student by the school and no other cost.




STUDENT SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT

 

All students will be supplied with product, drills,tools and any equipment needed to perform services.  This includes a library at the student's disposal and all written materials needed. 

 

 

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

 
Manicure/Pedicure/Nail Extensions 

 
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:  This program prepares and provides the student with procedures for caring for the fingernails and toenails, knowledge and practical skills necessary to be a proficient Manicure/Pedicure/Nail Extensions Specialist which are the guidelines set forth by the Board of Cosmetology. The student must pass the State Final Examination before he or she will be able to graduate.  Passing grade of 70%

 PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:    The program is designed to teach the student all facets of procedures in caring for the fingernails and toenails.  Includes the following;  sanitation, disinfections, art of the science of nails, disease and disorders of the nail, manicure, pedicure, nail wraps,, nail tips, acrylic, gels and nail art.

PROGRAM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS & PREREQUISITES
 Student must be at least 16 years old to enroll in the program,  have a high school diploma or GED equivalent or take the Adult Basic Learning Exam Level 3 with a passing grade of 75%.   Applicants less than 18 years old requirement is parent/gardian signature.  All applicants must complete an enrollment agreement.  A student entering Palm Beach Nail School with previous training will be awarded the previous hours when student provides a copy of the Transcript (degrees and certificates as verification of credit and clock hours ) from the school previously attended.

The explanation of the coarse numbering system:  Nails refers to the Manicure, Pedicure and Nail Extension program and the numbers refer to the guidelines in order of chapters to be taught from the Milady’s book. Example:  Nails1001 is the first chapter taught, Nails1002 is the second chapter taught.
 

Glossary for Manicure/Pedicure/Nail Extension

Nails1000-  HIV/AID Awareness – study of the cause and prevention of aids and the precautions to apply when working on the public.
Nails1001 -  Ethics & Professionalism – the sense of right and wrong interacting with clients, employer, and coworkers.  Honest, fairness, courtesy and respect for the feeling and rights of others are essential values in professional ethic.
Nails1002 -  Sanitation & Sterilization – sanitation is the lowest level of decontamination & sterilization is difficult, multi-step process used to destroy all living organisms on a surface or implement.
Nails1003 -  Manicure – standard service performed by nail technicians that includes care and massage of the hands and trimming, shaping, and polishing the fingernails.
Nails1004 - Pedicure – standard service performed by nail technicians that includes care and massage of the feet and trimming, shaping, and polishing toe toenails.
Nails1005 -  Nail Wrapping – nail-size pieces of cloth or paper that are bonded to the top of the nail plate with nail adhesive; often used to repair or strengthen natural nails or nail tips.
Nails1006 - Gel System – light-cured gel used with artificial nails that hardens when exposed to and ultraviolet light source.
Nails1007 - Acrylic – a substance that is mixed with liquid and applied to an artificial nail tip to strengthen the natural nail and the tip.
Nails1008 -  Polishing & Nail Art – the basic application of nail polish.  Nail art is an add-on service offered at many salons that applies creative the unique custom designs to the finished nail.
Nails1009 - Disease & Disorders – is a condition caused by injury to the nail or disease or imbalance in the body.
Nails1010 - Florida Law – study of the rules and laws set by the Board of Cosmetology.
